Wednesday 14th November Trip to Liverpool

Following on from our trip to Bristol last year this week we went up to Liverpool. There's so much to see and do in Liverpool that we were spoilt for choice! Being nautical types most of us ended up in the Maritime museum which includes a lot of information about the Titanic. The Slavery Museum also proved popular. We also filled up one of the 'Ducks' and and a had superb trip through the centre of Liverpool culminating in a 'splash down' and trip round the docks!

Tuesday 6th November Amanda Suggitt - Tales from the Olympic Sailing 2012

Our new season continued with another packed house as Amanda Suggitt told us about her Olympic experience. Amanda, an RYA Coach and very experienced dinghy Sailor; at National level gave us a fascinating insight into what it took to run the racing at Weymouth.

Tuesday 23rd October Mark Burkes Clipper Round the World Race 2011-2012

The first night of our 2012 - 2013 season got off to a cracking start with Mark Burkes telling us all about his experience during a storm in the Pacific Ocean during the Clipper Round the World - 40,000 miles Race.  
He was a watch leader aboard the Geraldtown Western Australia, when she was 'pooped' by a very large wave 400 miles out from California. 
Mark related to a packed house how, following the boat's steering being destroyed the crew had to rig the jury rudder and cope with massive seas...
