Tuesday 19th January Paul, Rose & Katie Miller Biscay and OSTAR

Posted by Beryl on Wednesday, January 20, 2010 Under: Previous Meetings
On Tuesday 19th we were entertained by Paul & Rose Miller and their daughter Katie.
Paul told us how they had started sailing after a flotilla holiday in Greece.  They had been 'hooked' and gone on to complete competency courses before buying their own boat in which they had sailed the Biscay Triangle - a rally organised by Yachting Monthly.
He played a very amusing video taken during the rally.
Katie was visiting us for the second time.  She had spoken to us two years ago about her 'Round Britain' adventure.  On this occasion she recounted her participation in the 2008 OSTAR race and gave us a insight into the decisions she'd had to make about route planning etc.  She crossed the line a very creditable 10th in a 23 boat race.
She is shortly moving to France to further her sail racing career.  We will watch her progress and hope she will return to MCCC to recount the adventures yet to come.
